It has been an exciting year to be a Meridian Library District patron! In less than 12 months, we celebrated the grand opening of the new North Meridian library at Orchard Park and broke ground for an exciting new library in South Meridian.

This year-end the Meridian Library Foundation is raising funds to support the Children's Collection for Meridian Library District. While the Levy Funds contribute to the construction of the district’s new library spaces, they do not cover the collections, technology, or material resources. Without outside funding from grants and donations, those resources are limited to what the library can afford through its general operating budget.

If you have visited any of the Meridian Library locations recently, you’ll know that the library spaces are always filled with young patrons eager to find new books. In September alone, an impressive 56,516 children's books were borrowed from the Meridian Library branches! The new Orchard Park location has been seeing an increase in monthly checkouts, making it difficult to keep a wide variety of materials on the shelves. Additionally, as the district opens its new location in South Meridian next year, the Silverstone children’s collection will need to triple in size to accommodate the anticipated need.

Our goal is to raise an additional $15,000 by year-end so MLD staff can continue purchasing materials for the new branch at Orchard Park, and begin purchasing books for the upcoming branch in South Meridian.
